This is Lord of the Rings Crafts! I hope that everyone who has ever made anything crafty to do with Lord of the Rings, will feel free to come here and post some pics of their projects.
I thought I would kick things off with a couple of posts.
Here is my hobbit purse:

This is not the hobbit purse I hope to eventually make from scratch. This is a denim purse ($9.99) purchased from Walmart) which had a giant Cinderella appliqued to the front flap.
I used several images to create an 8 and a half x 11 collage. I then used my printer to make a copy onto fusible fabric. This was ironed onto the front flap right on top of Cinderella. The image did not quite cover the flap, so I bordered it with some ribbon trim, which I put on with fusible web. Using a narrow satin stitch and a jeans needle in my sewing machine, I also stitched all around the edges. Then I added a purchased "hip charm" and extended the strap to its fullest extent, so that I can wear the purse as a sling. At the top of the flap I glued four scrapbooking charms. They say "faith", "hope", "love" and "wisdom". Voila! A Lord of the Rings themed purse!

Date: 2006-05-18 09:46 pm (UTC)The result is that just about any image that you can get on a computer or put into a scanner can be used to make a piece of fabric, though the size is limited by the size of your printer.
And yes--those images are favorites of mine as well! Especially the splendid pic of our lads the Travellers.
