My Lord of the Rings jacket...
I made a jacket, especially to wear to ScotMoot.

More pictures behind the cut:
(Click on the thumbnails for a closer look.)
Here's a back view:

The jacket is made from recycled denim jeans and remnants, in a simple self-made dropshoulder pattern, with extra pockets. I backed fabric with freezer paper in order to be able to print the images from my computer printer. Calligraphy is done with either fabric paint or permanent markers.
Here's another back view:

This is the left front pocket. The quotation says, "For two more nights they marched on, climbing steadily but ever more slowly as their road wound up into the hills and the mountains towered nearer and nearer."

This is the pocket flap on the right front pocket:

And a close-up; you can read the quotation here:

And here's a close-up of the back center panel; the quotation is Bilbo's song, "The Road Goes Ever On", and the words are "hope", "friendship", "endurance", "LOVE" and "courage:

Here's the front again:
That's a commercial iron-on embroidered patch of an eagle, and the quotation, which I embroidered over by hand, because the calligraphy did not show up well, is the verse the Eagle sang in Minas Tirith.

Thanks a lot,
danachan for helping me get these up!

Denim is kind of a basic for me; I wear blue jeans all the time, and having several pairs laying around that I had never gotten around to mending. By using those, it meant that the other coordinating fabrics should be mostly blue--and I had lots of pretty remnants!

If you don't have a chance to take a class, there are some good calligraphy tutorials online!

Some 20 years ago I had a matching dress to your jacket, just without the main part of course, the beautiful Shire pictures and calligraphy.
You did such a great job! :)
